An Affordable Space for Artists

BKV Group worked with Artspace, Montgomery County, and the Montgomery County Division of Housing to develop the former Third District Police Station on Sligo Avenue into an arts center anchored by affordable live/work housing.

Live/Work Community

The campus consists of 68 affordable apartment units, 11 townhomes and 11,279 SF of artist studio space, creating a strong transitional connection between the business district and residential neighborhoods. The site plan responded to the sensitivity of the neighborhood while providing vital opportunities for job growth, affordable rental and for-sale housing, and support for the local creative economy.
